Preventive Dentistry

Our team emphasizes preventive dentistry because we believe that most serious dental problems can be avoided with routine checkups and cleanings. If your smile ever does need a little extra TLC, whether it’s a filling, a crown, or a dental implant, Dr. Chang will work with you to design a conservative, customized treatment plan.

Sedation Dentistry

We love what we do here at Brookings Dental Arts, but we know that most people don't look forward to dental visits. A little bit of anxiety isn't uncommon, but if you break a sweat just thinking about sitting in the dental chair, we can help!

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Nitrous oxide, sometimes called “laughing gas,” is one of the safest anti-anxiety agents used in dentistry. Nitrous oxide has mild, short-lived effects and can be administered with just a mask over the nose, making it a great option for adults and children alike.

Conscious Sedation

Dr. Chang also offers conscious sedation (oral and IV) for patients with more severe anxiety, and for individuals with complex treatment needs. We can perform almost any treatment with the help of conscious sedation, from deep cleanings and fillings to wisdom teeth removal.

Restorative Dentistry

If you’re missing teeth or struggling with a chronic condition like gum disease or diabetes, you might need more than routine cleanings to keep your teeth looking and feeling their best. Dr. Chang offers a variety of restorative dental treatments that will not just restore your smile to its former health – they’ll make it look and feel even better than before!

Periodontal (Gum) Care

According to the National Institutes of Health, 8-10% of American adults currently have some degree of gum disease. The mild stage, known as gingivitis, is characterized by red, swollen gums that bleed every time you floss. If it's caught early enough, gingivitis is completely reversible with in-office treatments and proper home care. Left undiagnosed, it can progress to more serious periodontal disease, which can result in tooth loss, infections, and an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

In the past, the tried-and-true treatment for gum disease was surgery. Dr. Chang can treat many cases with less-invasive techniques at his Brookings dental office, including medicated rinses and local antibiotics.
